"On 21st February 2006 I went to see Phil Parker for Lightning Process therapy. Before this I'd had M.E. for almost 2 years. I suffered from immense fatigue, dizziness, poor temperature control, muscles weakness and brain fog. I constantly felt light-headed, was unable to work and could barely socialise. Even sitting through a film at the cinema felt like an ordeal. I had tried Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Reverse Therapy, but neither improved my symptoms.
It is now a month since I saw Phil and I'm beginning to love my life again. An important part of The Lightning Process for M.E is all about changing your thought patterns in order to reduce the adrenaline in your body and thus improve your immune system. At first I found it very difficult to change my thought patterns. It's a very simple process, but I'm the kind of person who finds it hard to change and to be honest I was a bit sceptical because I'd tried so many things before. So I had to work very hard at the process. Phil doesn't cure you - he tells you what you need to do. It is you that has to do all the hard work. It took me about a week to comprehend the Lightning Process, but then it clicked and I haven't looked back!
As soon as I got back from London I put my name down for an aqua-aerobics class. Before being ill I had loved exercising, but I hadn't been able to for 2 years because of M.E. I gradually built up my confidence by driving further and seeing more friends. Now, after a month I'm about to join a gym. I went to a snow centre last weekend and was even able to ski for an hour!! My boyfriend and family are delighted with the change in me. I often shock them by offering to drive them somewhere or tidying the house!! It's lovely to feel 'normal' again without worrying about relapsing or having enough rest. In fact, I haven't had an M.E. rest since LP. I've sat down with a cup of tea to watch T.V. but I haven't needed to go off into a dark room and lie in silence. It is lovely to do things and enjoy them, rather than doing them because I think I should be.
I still have to do the process every now and then, but I know that it's going to get me to 100%. I really would advise M.E. sufferers to try LP. It is not cheap, but it is worth the money.
On the first day of the process training one of my fellow participants could barely move, yet on the last day I saw her walk down the road on her own for the first time in years. If you want to try LP you need to understand that your mind has a huge impact on your body. It took me a while to accept this, but if you can it makes the process much easier to get on with.
Yesterday I booked a holiday to Spain. I can't wait! I'm going away for the first time in years and I'm going to enjoy it!"
