FAQS

Q. I’ve heard that people who have done the Process are told they are not allowed to talk to anyone about it. Is this true?

A: No, this is absolutely not true. People taking the Lightning Process (LP) are free to discuss anything about the course with anyone they wish. The problem that most people find when talking about the course is that it’s very difficult to adequately explain, in detail, the content of a three day, interactive course, as so much goes on in such a short space of time.

Also during the past 12 months we have had over ten medical professionals observe the LP seminars to become better informed about it and we welcome journalists and NHS specialists to come and see the LP for themselves.

Q. Does the Lightning Process (LP) work for everyone?

A: No it doesn’t, although our feedback survey suggests that approximately 76.6%* of people who did the LP no longer had the issues they came with after doing the LP course.

*feedback from a survey of 1297 clients after day three of the training.

There are a number of factors that seem to influence a participants success:

A)    Finding a practitioner they feel comfortable working with

B)    Being well prepared (having read the book, looked at the website in detail, spoken to others who have used the Process for similar issues)

C)    Recognising that they have to use the LP techniques for some time after the seminar has finished.

Have a look at our How Does It Work page for more information

Q. Is it similar to any other therapy?

A: No, the Lightning Process is a training programme and although it is designed with an expert knowledge of osteopathy, NLP and life coaching, it’s not the same as these or any other approaches. The Lightning Process is completely unique.

Q. I’ve read on the internet that Trading Standards have ruled that the Lightning Process is illegal – is this true?

A. No, this is completely false. We continue to work with Trading Standards and the ASA to ensure our marketing meets the standards required for our profession, and any suggestions they have made we have actioned. As a growing and developing business we recognise the importance of promoting our services in a professional and reputable manner and have therefore followed the advice we have received from the authorities and are constantly reviewing our websites to ensure the information we give is accurate.

We are aware that a small group of people have launched an attack on us as a business and at Phil personally, leading to falsehoods and inaccuracies being spread across the internet, which is incredibly upsetting for all involved. Once again we encourage people to contact us directly as we are more than willing to discuss their concerns and address any questions they may have regarding the Lightning Process.

Q. Is it positive thinking?

A: No. A small element of the Lightning Process looks at the consequence of negative thinking, but it is not just positive thinking, as that kind of approach has only limited success.

Q. If I do the Lightning Process seminar do I have to do any other courses afterwards?

A. No, the Lightning Process seminar is a three day programme, complete in itself, although there are optional one to one follow up sessions available as needed with your practitioner. For the vast majority of our clients the Lightning Process is the only course they ever take with us. We also offer Building Your Future seminars for graduates of the LP who want to use the LP in other areas of their lives. A small number of participants (fewer than 1% in 2010) decide that they would like to become a Lightning Process practitioner and take the professional training programme to do that.

Q. Are any techniques like brainwashing involved in the training?

A: No. The LP helps you to become self empowered, to regain choice in your life and to make appropriate decisions based on what you want. If brainwashing is defined as someone programming you to respond in a way that they impose on you, removing your own control in your life, then the Lightning Process is quite the reverse.

Q. Will I be hypnotised?

A: No, the LP does not involve you being hypnotised by a practitioner.

Q. Will there be physical contact or manipulation of the body and muscles during the training?

A: No, the osteopathic elements of the LP are referring to the principles that underpin osteopathy and in particular the link between the brain and the body and how posture can affect you.

Q. Have medical trials been carried out for the Lightning Process?

A: A feasibility study with the NHS is currently underway.

Q. Am I to blame if it doesn’t work?

A: No. Blame is a concept that has no place within the Lightning Process. If a participant is not getting the results they want, their practitioner will work with them to help discover what is missing from their understanding of the training and then work with them to find ways to re-explain and practice the missing elements.

Q. How much does it cost?

A: Prices vary, so it's best to speak to your local expert, who can advise you on this; obviously any pre-course advice or support is completely free of charge.

Q. Why isn’t the Lightning Process available on the NHS?

A: We have discussed the role of the Lightning Process in the NHS with a number of NHS consultants, and have taken their advice that for the time being its three day format and the particular way it looks at language and health, it’s best catered for in a non medical setting. We are looking at ways, including our work with research groups, to make the LP available on the NHS for the future.

Q. Can I use my health insurance to pay for the Lightning Process seminar?

A: A number of leading insurers including Legal and General have paid for their clients to take the LP. However it is always best to check with your insurer as conditions may vary from policy to policy.

Q. Do you offer payment by instalments or concessions?

A: Each practitioner is in charge of their own fee structure and terms. Please check with your individual practitioner as to how they can help you with this.

Q. Is the Lightning Process a form of Pyramid Selling?

A: Absolutely not. A tiny percentage of people (fewer than 1% in 2010) have taken the Lightning Process to resolve their issues and have gone on to train as Lightning Process practitioners.  Lightning Process practitioners have to be members of the LP register which works much like other professional bodies. Membership of the LP register grants the practitioner a license to use the copyrighted training materials of the Lightning Process. This ensures that all LP seminars are run to the same high standard throughout the world, independent of where you take your training. Membership responsibilities are laid out in the code of conduct available from Head Office on request. Practitioners do not receive any financial gain from introducing clients etc. to become LP practitioners
